I was born in La Ciotat (1981), I currently live in La Ciotat
After studying foreign languages and ethnology, I decided to travel and to discover other cultures. Photography then became the means to share my stories with others, to seal emotions and sometimes to enhance them.
Painting and drawing also nourished my experience.
I followed some training courses in photo journalism (London College of Art, EMI-CFD Paris) which confirmed the idea that photography would become my preferred means of expression.
My personal subjects, which deal with sanitary and social causes, are not easy to look at, both from the point of view of the form and the content, but the common point between them all is that they are the cause of deep suffering and they are ignored by most of the media. It therefore became necessary for me to produce a pared-down but frontal photography which directs the viewer’s attention to what appears to me to be fundamental. My aesthetic choices reinforce my intentions. I try to confront the viewer with a certain reality and trigger off questioning in his/her mind.
My work "Erased from the World" has been selected by the jury of FAIT & CAUSE Galery and the website www.sophot.com to be exhibited at FAIT & CAUSE gallery, 58 rue Quincampoix, 75004 Paris – France : from June 3th through July 19th, 2014.
The exhibition will later be presented at IKONO gallery 47 rue Lesbroussart, 1050 Brussels, Belgium
“Erased from the World-Ethiopia” was selected by Raymond Depardon to be published in the magazine “Réponses Photos” n° 263 and will be exhibited at several festivals during the year 2014: “Les Nuits Photographiques de Pierrevert” in the Lubéron (end of July 2014) ”Photosoc” in Sarcelles (Paris October 2014), and Angkor Foto Festival, December 2014.
Furthermore, this work was selected “Coup de Coeur” by the ANI (National Association of Iconographers) at the International Festival of Photojournalism “Visa for the Image” in Perpignan in 2013. It was also displayed in the framework of the “Voies Off” at the International Photography Festival in Arles in July 2013.
I have developed a commercial activity focusing on the portrait since 2008. I alternate between requests for documentaries (Médecins du Monde-France, Joseph Paris-Fayat métai,Conseil Régional PACA,Agence photographique Réalis-Monaco, CCl du VAR···) and personal work focusing on social and humanitarian issues ("Les Maux de visu"-Mali,"Effacés du monde", « le Triangle de la mort italien,...).
